Leicester Challenge Chelsea For Benrahma Signing

By Daily Sports on June 18, 2020

Chelsea reportedly face competition from Leicester City to sign Brentford’s Algerian attacker Said Benrahma.

The 24-year-old Fennec Foxes star has been dubbed the ‘New Riyad Mahrez’ is some portions of the British media after his impressive form for Championship side Brentford in 2019-20.

The wide attacker has registered 10 goals and eight assists for the Bees, who are in a good position to finish in the playoff berths and possibly earn promotion to the Premier League next season.

According to the Daily Express, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is in the market for a goalscoring wide man to bolster his attack next season, and Benrahma is top of his list.

However, the Foxes face fierce competition from Chelsea, who have also asked Brentford about Benrahma’s situation, as well as Arsenal.

The Championship club want £25m for Benrahma, whom they signed for £1.5m from Nice two years ago.

Benhrama has two years left on his Brentford contract, and Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is also keen to tempt the Algerian, who has three caps for his country, away from Griffin Park for the start of next season.

If that were the case, Benrahma would join fellow North African Hakim Ziyech at Stamford Bridge. (African Football)
