MFM too hot to handle, win second straight game in the top flight

By Adeyinka Akintunde, Lagos on February 24, 2016

Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) this evening won their second straight game in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). Two goals in the first half from Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Sikiru Olatunbosun of MFM and one from Fredrick Obomate of visiting Rivers United gave the newly promoted boys victory in a game that pulled an appreciable crowd at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

The contest began slowly but MFM soon established their dominance, with midfielder Onuoha being easily the most impressive man on the pitch. Ifeanyi broke the deadlock from the penalty spot and it did not take long before Olatubosun extended the lead after receiving a through pass to end the first half 2-0.

Rivers United had the second half to themselves, searching for goals. They got one through Obomate but had their quest for an equaliser frustrated till the match ended. MFM thus maintain their unbeaten run, having beaten Nasarawa United 2-1 away on Sunday.
