Africa’s premier football business event, the Football Africa Forum, will stage its third edition in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 16-17, 2018 prior to the much-awaited 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying-match between South Africa and Nigeria.

The gathering will host all the key stakeholders debating the business and development aspects of the beautiful game and for it to become the premier football knowledge-sharing platform on the continent.

The Forum’s theme, “The Future of African Football”, will be debated in a “Roundtable Setup” where all the participants will contribute towards the discussion.

One of main topics to be discussed at the Forum is FIFA’s new proposed Transfer System and solidarity payments for clubs, the FIFA “clearing house” to process transfers, the electronic transfer system, payment of agent’s commissions through the “clearing house” and restrictions on loans of youth players.

Other key topics to be debated include player welfare and retirement planning, development of coaches, club licensing, league development, the role of intermediaries/agents, academy development, marketing and sponsorship, fan engagement, football agents and strategies to improve clubs structures, etc.

The Forum will also host the 3rd meeting of the African Football Alliance (AFA) to prepare for the upcoming European-African Football Partnership Summit, slated to take place on 7-9 February 2019 alongside the Soweto Derby in Johannesburg, to facilitate cooperation agreements between African football structures and representatives from European federations, leagues, clubs, academies, coaches, agents and other football stakeholders to forge sustainable development partnerships for the game on the continent at large.

The Forum will conclude on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with the Football Africa Awards Gala-Diner after the match between South African and Nigeria where recognition will be given to football personalities for their unselfish contribution to the game, as nominated by stakeholders from across the continent.
