Alex Iwobi is to sign a new contract with Arsenal that will tie the Nigeria international down to the Gunners until 2022.

Iwobi , the attacking midfielder, has two years’ left to run on his existing deal, and there have been suggestions he would be leaving the Emirates this summer following Unai Emery’s appointment as the club’s new manager.

Iwobi is just short of reaching a century of appearances for Arsenal

Lazio and Milan have been linked with making a move for the 22-year-old, but the Mirror say Iwobi has agreed terms on an improved deal to stay in north London.

Iwobi, who moved to England at the age of four, has spent his entire career with the Gunners and he made his first-team debut in October 2015.

In total, Iwobi has scored nine goals in 98 matches for the north Londoners.

A former England youth international, Iwobi opted to represent Nigeria at senior level, and he’s gone on to make 21 appearances for his birth nation – including at the recent World Cup.(Talk Sport)
