Keown praises Omeruoh, questions why Chelsea haven't given him a chance

Super Eagles defender and Kasimpasa of Turkey loanee Kenneth Omeruoh returned to the Nigerian senior team's line up against Finland yesterday and impressed in a back three central defence position as Nigeria handed Finland a 2-0 defeat in the Russia 2018 World Cup.

Omeruoh's performance was appreciated by Arsenal legend and sports columnist Martin Keown who praised the Chelsea-owned player after the match and questioned why his parent club has not given the player a chance to play in the English premier League.

Writing for the BBC Keown said: "Kenneth Omeruo has been immense. He's slotted into this team seamlessly - I can't see why Chelsea haven't given him a chance.

“This new shape has really worked for Nigeria – they look fluid and full of confidence."

The Super Eagles of Nigeria next play Lionel Messi's Argentina in their last group game and a draw will be enough for them to qualify from the group provided Iceland don't beat table toppers Croatia by three goals or more.
