Nigeria's Pascal Durugbor continues to shine in Sweden

By Nelson Dafe on June 23, 2018

While his compatriots are fighting for the green-white-green in faraway Russia another Nigerian striker Pascal Durugbor continues to make a name for himself in Sweden.

Two days ago the 18-year old striker who moved to Sweden's third tier League in January from Benin City based grassroots outfit Rock Stars FC banged in his 9th goal in 10 League matches for Vaxjo United as they cruised past Nybro IF 4-1.

Durugbor's goal came courtesy of a powerful shit in the second half. He also had an assist to his name in the rout of the visitors.

With this win Vaxjo are joint top in the league table.

With his hot scoring form Durugbor, whose game is based on a combination of intelligent movements and a cold-blooded striking ability is heavily tipped for greatness in a bigger European club.

Also as Nigeria assembles a squad at the under 21 level in preparation for the FIFA junior World Cup next year, there is a big need to give the 19-year-old Durugbor a call to the Flying Eagles team so he can try to translate his good club form into the Paul Aigbogun Junior National team.

A great attribute of the striker is that he can shoot and score with both legs, while his game reading, balance and movement are other qualities that have ensured that his profile in Europe is fast on the rise.

A solid brain behind the fast rise of Durugbor is Ferdinand Oji, President of Rock Stars Academy in Benin City and CEO of Chines Sports Investment Limited, a sports management company.

Durugbor was discovered by Swedish football development company Tiki Taka Academy during one of their football programs in Nigeria late last year and was facilitated by the company to move and settle at Vaxjo in January.
