Salah breaks Didier Drogba’s record in Liverpool’s win against Bournemouth

By Daily Sports on April 15, 2018

Mohamed Salah has overtaken ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba to become the highest scoring African player in Premier League history.

The Egypt international scored his 30th Premier League goal of the season in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

And that strike set another record for Salah, who continues to lead Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot this season.

In the 2009-10 season, Drogba scored 29 goals in the Premier League for Chelsea.

But Salah has now surpassed the Ivorian’s best-ever total with his goal against Bournemouth.

“It’s completely normal that a boy in that situation wants to be top of the scoring list, the Golden Boot,’ Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said after the match.

“We will not be in his way. But we cannot force it; so, pass, shoot, pass, shoot, that’s the normal thing to do.

“It’s good and impressive – what a number, wow!

And what a number we scored as a team in the whole season, that’s crazy.

“That’s really good but we have to carry on, there are a few games to come.” (Metro)
